Same. While it is still a bit unclear to me at least why Russia sent their seemingly old gear without proper support and young conscripts in first, the terrible parachute attempts still stand out. When you want it to be over quickly, you ha

I don't mind system76 succeeding, that would be great, but I have not really liked any of their laptop offerings. I also really don't want another half funded DE for Linux. I really wish they would dedicate these resources to impr

I really wish they would instead dedicate this time to improving GNOME.

To add to this. I am already in the 49% tax bracket. So a 10k raise would not be worth learning a new organization and the risk of getting a worse boss.

Same. Apple products were so obnoxiously expensive.

Yes, I think so too. And I have used Linux since 2004, macos since 2013. And have barely touched windows since 2009, but I have tried w10 and w11 briefly.

I think Gnome apps in Gnome are actually pretty alright. Not really jarring anymore with ok functionality between apps. I wish gnome-shell was more stable and shipped with a dock…

I have used Linux since 2004, and the fonts were so horrid I read up on configuring FreeType to try make them less jarring.

Object pooling used to be more common in Java. Now it is mainly used for objects that are expensive (incurs latency) to create, not for GC reasons.

I only use macOS for work now because they have become too expensive to keep one just for personal use. The new M1 Air is not that expensive though, but it's still 3 times the price of a decent AMD based laptop.

They announce (known) breaking changes that may require manual intervention. Meanwhile, when my ubuntu upgrade breaks something there is never any release notes or documentation to help me fix it. After my previous ubuntu upgrade at work, t

You don't have to run arch if you are happy with your Ubuntu or whatever other distro. I run arch because I like trying out new software when its released, not when maintainers of ubuntu decide to include it in the next release cycle.

To be fair this happens with my work macbook every now and then. It hasn't died though.

I have been running Arch since about 2008. This used to be a problem with laptops, but I have had great experiences with this exact problem since about 2012. Or maybe I got better at buying laptops with largely compatible hardware.

Maybe you made it then. Most places I see only recreated the office-from-home, failing to actually create a culture of remote work.

My company never really went remote. I would more describe it as office-from-home. And most are going back to the office 4 days a week.

Botox is also used to treat severe cases of migraine patients, where they knock out nerves along the migraine pathways. The patients will still have incidents, just with much less pain as the nerves in the pathway are paralyzed.
