As a hiring manager, I can promise you that your generalizations are sweeping and full of misplaced emotional verbiage. Since it is my job to hire the best candidate and even though my company gives me access to a world of engineers, I will

Hmmm... wow I lost my bet that GitHub would have been the first of the hipster Ruby on Rails companies to IPO. Though, I'm still betting they will be next. New Relic is a great company that makes it very easy to keep on top of your app

When I was there it was a healthy mix of CVS, SVN and git. Engineering wanted to move to git, so I would assume they are on the path to 100% git, annnnd.... probably already are at this point.

Wow, this _open letter_ is so full of nerd rage that it fails to capture any of my sympathy. I expected to see a humble effort to create an open-source Swift compiler that would move the conversation forward. Instead, I'm left feeling

The extensions could be written to be full featured. It's really the fault of the individual products not doing anything interesting with it.

Sorry, I just had to be the one to say it. If SJ were presenting, he would have focused 10 minutes on how this device was the best and most precise thing at telling time. He would have shown how the hardware surpassed anything a mechanical

The fact that this whole charade is over one word "standard" because it seemingly takes control away from Gruber rubs me the wrong way. Jeff Atwood and co have done nothing but praise Markdown. They've worked really hard to f

Nice... 3 kids at 32! Sounds like you made that your "startup" instead. Happy to hear you've decided to commit to making that successful. :-)

San Francisco became my home in my heart almost immediately. I have fallen in love with this city. When I leave, I miss it and where-ever I go I can't stop talking about it. Yes it's not perfect, far from it, but it's perfect

Would be great too if this works with LLVM/Clang for Windows. Then one could have access to the complete C++/14 :-D

I wanted to immediately shout, "now THIS is something SJ would be rolling in his grave over." However, in the mid 2000s he was a big believer in switching to Intel and even though I found it hard to believe a company that pushed P

I agree with the OP that double sided businesses are extremely high bars for a lot of founders to tackle. Yet, I think it's silly to tell someone their idea is dumb. Would GitHub have sounded like a great idea at the beginning? Or Twit
