Why is your ego struck by politely leaving in the midst of a series of interviews but not by a polite post-interview rejection? Where do you draw the line?

In a way, part of me wants the patent circus to lead to an actual ban on U.S. sales of a popular, high profile device for a considerable period of time. I don't even care which device. Maybe the system will somehow wake up when confronted w

Every bike is worth stealing, unfortunately. I had beater bikes stolen, one had duct tape on the rims, another one with visibly busted rear brake. I probably couldn't have sold them if I tried to; but then I don't sell to sketchy characters

I have not used it yet. (I hope there isn't a finite, small amount of spaces and I'm not hogging... but I signed up after this was mentioned on HN last time and got a spot pretty soon so I'm guessing it's not that limited.)

I got an invitation to beta test around two days after signing up on https://stripe.com/global . This was on August 8, YMMV of course.

You do realize Gehry has designed plenty of buildings that don't leak, right? His track record on leaking water after construction is probably better than Facebook's track record on leaking personal information after privacy setting chang

I did both of these. This resulted in the "flag" links disappearing.

For those of us without flag powers, mentioning the adage is the most we can do about titles like these on HN. Of course I could just stop reading the HN front page, but that seems a rather null solution.

Yeah, it'll do that because it's used to your finger being on the stick and thinks that's the neutral position. It's supposed to stop and recalibrate itself eventually, especially when it reaches the edge of the screen. I've never had that

Well, see, I would just print the date that's there in the database in the first place. How is "864 days ago" useful information? Doesn't everyone at least convert it to the number of years it stands for?

Regarding chronology, FWIW, this is a final year project for a group in a class of 2011. The concept would have been developed in summer and fall of 2010 and a prototype implemented in winter of 2011. First mentions of Amazon lockers are fr

You could speak both and prefer to use the Japanese version when in Japan (to get better local results, for instance). The site has no way of knowing your particular situation, so they ask rather than defaulting to one or the other.

Yes. But google.us acts the same as google.com when it comes to location redirects though (e.g., I have a Canadian IP and en-us;0.9 Accept-Language, it redirects me to google.ca).

To say nothing about right click - paste... unless they're doing the 1999 thing and blocking right click too (and if they are, hopefully it's with a 1999-tastic alert("Right click not allowed!");).

Is there any particular reason you believe Russia is unable to elect someone who doesn't steal from the country and is also not a borderline autocrat? I know the track record isn't great, but I'm curious if you reckon that's inherent.

You would typically do point-to-point trips between stations. Bixi Toronto has something like $500-$1000 liability if stolen, as I recall (less if recovered later presumably... the bikes stand out so it'd be rather difficult to pawn).
