I got an invitation to beta test around two days after signing up on https://stripe.com/global https://stripe.com/global. This was on August 8, YMMV of course.

I signed up a long time ago when there wasn't a list for Canadians to sign up for. Maybe I need to use a different email than Gmail. Who knows.

  How has the experience been?

I have not used it yet. (I hope there isn't a finite, small amount of spaces and I'm not hogging... but I signed up after this was mentioned on HN last time and got a spot pretty soon so I'm guessing it's not that limited.)

huh. I'll submit again in case something went wrong. Does anyone know of Stripe alternatives for the international market?

Braintree will very soon be in Canada. I believe they're running beta as well.
