The subtitle is a better fitting title: "Lightweight Threads, Channels and Actors for the JVM".

It would be very interesting if you could easily convert a graph into a Storm[0] topology. An example of the Storm Clojure DSL is available in the storm-starter project[1]. [0] http://storm-project.net/ [1] https://github.com/nathanmarz/

Whatever happened to the debate around how in/efficient the blob storage format in SQLite was? Did that get changed in v3? EDIT: Found the official examination[0] on the performance of blob storage. [0] http://www.sqlite.org/intern-v-exter

Passenger aircraft is a no, but a stable UAV platform is a possibility. What happened to the idea of a stable airborne cell tower? The only response I can find is "unlikely" or "unreliable" without any data.

Which type of socialism? While I agree that Atlas Shrugged is young adult fiction, I think labeling the world as socialist swings the pendulum too far in the other direction. There are balances, minimums, maximums, and extenuating circumsta

I like the mix of content, but I would like to filter out some of the topics. Reddit has sub-reddits, Lobste.rs has tags (and filters for members), and Facebook has ignore from a source. There are options, but I'm not sure anyone on HN will

That depends on the filesystem events you tie into (Open, Close, Write, Delete, etc) and what your responding script does. But, at the point where you want to put the entire system under some kind of change management, why not use something

Wouldn't a simple inotify[0] watch on /etc handle that scenario? Does it split up the commits by package? [0] http://linux.die.net/man/1/inotifywait

I'm still skeptical of BCIs being useful, to healthy people, for, at least, another twenty years. I can't think of a single thing I could control with my brain, that I couldn't do more accurately, and consistently, with my hands, voice, etc

This could be said for McDonalds, Coke, or any other brand you personally prefer, or are looking for. The most fun, i've found, are youtube videos showing americans living abroad and finding american food in the ethnic food sections [0][1].

Every circular menu implementation i've seen still suffers from low command "density", lack of space for text, difficult to use sub-menus, maintaining predictable ordering, and, with touch UIs, commands hidden by the user's own finger. I re

Now, if web browser would support custom HTTP verbs, you could map application actions to http verbs and start removing the years of work-arounds that used GET and POST to tunnel what you really wanted.

Don't forget Amdahl's law and Gustafson's law on the limits of parallelizing when the problem isn't P-complete. Either way, I disagree with your conclusion that it is misguided.
