Android 4.1, and above, has offline voice recognition. I'm not sure about the current state of Android support for Raspberry PI, but you wouldn't have to reinvent anything.

I've had a half baked idea about this for a few years. The thermostat has a terrible screen and is immobile, while my phone is the exact opposite. With Bluetooth LE, and perhaps NFC, you could make a configuration/maintenance interface that

Awesome. But, shouldn't it be going from first commit to latest commit? Like telling the story of the project. Edit: Found the repo[0] in the page source. [0] https://github.com/artemave/StarLogs

I wonder if you could write an extension to an existing game/mmo to use the same code-as-spell system.

It sounds like he just restated the idea of POCs and unknown-unknowns. You should consider yourself lucky if you have few enough tasks that you can "go hard early" on without destroying your work/life balance.

I have always wondered why I was taught binary as if they were arrays, but programming languages never allowed me to use bits like arrays. It's always masking and shifting uint16_t or int32_t, instead of what I really want, "result = bits[3

All the articles about "10x" developers, "1/10" developers, or "super" developers have not taught me anything about how to improve my skills, or a team's skills. Even the articles that promote the "10,000 hours" or "Just F'ing Do It" mantra

I wonder how this would correlate to different development stacks. It's possible a "language" used to mean something more like an ecosystem.

This attitude came up with a story, a little while ago, about an employer offering onsite psychologist/psychiatrist services and promising confidentiality. There has to be some kind of middle ground. Corporations are not designed to help yo

I think the article misses some of the scaling issues. Finland has, I think, 1.5 million school age children, while the US has ~84 million to educate. I'm far more interested in the classroom "flipping" model[0] coming out of Colorado. It c

I wonder if this could be applied to writing programs. You can't really keep the word count metric for programming, but you could go for total size of a solution (functions, modules, time from first commit to last commit, etc).
