Just as a counter point, I've started a small blog, posting infrequently about all sorts of things, technical and not. This has not had any affect on my life whatsoever, it's been a fun timesink but I've not seen any returns.

I'm wondering how this is going to be different than self-driving, where we can get 90% of the way there, but the last 10% is notoriously difficult with not nearly enough edge cases represented in the data

Switched from FF to Brave, just because FF spins up my fans and uses far more battery than Brave on arch linux. Wish I could switch back.

As someone part of a university, I don’t even bother trying to sign in with my organization, since the probability I have “legal” access to a drm-free pdf of a resource by signing in is lower than if I just try it on sci hub.

I didn't realize people considered CNET as respectable. I always assumed it was some site designed to bombard you with ads after it tricked you into clicking on it. At least, the auto-playing videos and huge banners told me that.

It can be considered busy work, but if it’s busy work that finds bugs and makes the debugging process easier, then it’s a win in my book. I’d rather write tests than debug

I'm just waiting for federated alternatives to emerge to github. Once a dev can host their own repo and not require everyone to make an account just for their project, I think github will take some serious hits. I'm willing to bet

How does scaling laws of the fediverse differ to scaling laws of email? Hadn’t the success of email already shown that it’s possible to scale decentralized protocols?
