I see they have experimental AMD backends that don’t use ROCm. Is ROCm that bad that they wrote their own, or was there some other justification for this?

I wonder how this relates to sodium ion batteries. Would this make them obsolete if these are a better alternative to lithium ion?

How does this provide a model with more computational power than just increasing model size?

Love neovim, great to see more parts already in my config coming to core. Maybe one day most of us won't even bother with plug-ins :)

Would love to know more about their experience training on AMD GPUs. Was it just as seamless as using Cuda?

I suspect our financial system will finally collapse when the United States government is no longer capable of borrowing fast enough to pay off/refinance all our debts and eventually defaults due to lack of available manpower

I’m not against advertising necessarily, but the members of these groups have near-unreadable websites that are far more ads than content. If you don’t want users blocking ads, don’t normalize bombarding them with ads until they have no cho

The lyrics it generated are way to clever. I'm a fan of rap, and no LLM I've ever used can generate anything nearly as witty as some of the lines in the demo.

Are these sodium ion batteries or regular lithium ion? I’m excited to see how these numbers change once sodium ion becomes mainstream

The EU is doing absolutely amazing work. It's so nice to see that a government is capable of passing a law and ensuring companies don't practically ignore it while technically complying, like they did with GDPR. Gives me hope.

A fair question - as it turns out, I do interact with quite a few women. And while, yes, women face pressure to sacrifice family for a career (or vice versa), from what I understand, many women simply 1) Have a strong negative disposition

I agree, and lots of my irl efforts have actually been on building and improving community in my graduate program, and it’s been much more fulfilling than the actual research I’m doing. But as someone who is “the community guy” in their dep

I fell into the 20-24 age and was deeply suicidal last year. There were two main factors at the time, aside from my usual depression 1) horrendous and soul-crushing job market that constantly signaled to me that I had no value 2) incredibly

I’m eagerly anticipating a Snapdragon X Elite mainboard. Complete pipe dream, but a few years down the line I would love an electric car designed to be as repairable as a framework laptop. Knowing I could easily do maintenance, upgrades,

I think to truly compete on the user side of things, Anthropic needs to develop mobile apps to use their models. I use the ChatGPT app on iOS (which is buggy as hell, by the way) for at least half the interactions I do. I won't sign up

I saw this option as well, but I worry that I might get bots or people who don't open the message to subscribe. So if only 10-20% of readers actually open a given email, then at best 25-50 people can benefit from the free tier, max. I&
