Yes. I wanted to be a particle physicist, but decided to teach for a couple years so I wouldn't go straight HS->university->grad school. I stayed in teaching, though, because I found the intellectual challenges of teaching well j

It's an interesting post, but the copy is not very well edited overall. It's certainly part of what makes me question what happens with the quality of his projects beyond the initial sales.

I'm most excited about the color scales. It looks like a helpful tool for situations where the standard colormaps in matplotlib/pyplot don't work well. Is that an appropriate use case? I also like seeing nbviewer used for doc

This looks really useful. I've played around with colormaps in a few visualization projects, but I've never made the time to learn about the various color packages. What does this add to colormath and grapefruit?

With 17 points in 40 minutes, any idea why this isn't on the front page? /new has more posts with more than 1 point than it normally does.

Fair questions. Word works well for students' final work, but it seems to get in the way when students are building their understanding of a topic. I like that Markdown has enough formatting options to organize a document, but not so m

I'm a high school teacher, and I'd love to start encouraging students to write in Markdown instead of Word. It would be a lot easier to do that with an application like this. But I haven't looked into it too closely, so I

Also, I believe a person's freedom of speech ends when speech creates a real threat to another person's safety. These kinds of tweets definitely create a threat to the recipient's safety.
