If Firefox kept any website-controlled interface it would give websites an opportunity to block the feature by overlaying it with a black rectangle. Most content providers probably don't like this feature.

Qwant doesn't work for me at all on Firefox. It displays an empty page. Does anyone else have that problem? In the console I get a warning and an error: > Content Security Policy: Couldn’t process unknown directive ‘script-src-elem’

That's not what people use the term "self-hosted" for. It doesn't really apply to websites that you created yourself. It rather applies to off-the-shelf software that you use as an alternative to SaaS offerings.

While I disagree with Mozilla's decision to switch users to centralised DoH, I believe they are right in their assesment that the current DNS infrastructure is not very private. And something like DoH sounds pretty cool. Without encryp

They don't, but nobody is really trying to enforce it yet. In a few years when these services face a lot more pressure to turn a profit (after the "wars") we will probably see a lot more of that.

Interestingly, the wired article has the text "Image via Wikipedia" below the image. The image must have been removed from the wikipedia article since 2011.
