Actually, there is something like that, given in a book titled: "Did you say mathematics?".

Thanks for the book recom. BTW, I will also recommend 'a hero of our time' by Lermontov. In it, you will get an updated view of what the meaning of 'friends' will be. :) EDIT: since this is getting upvotes, I will also m

Huh. Wait until it blows. And I say this as someone who uses AI (for fun) and to check things I may havbe overlooked. There's a place and time for everything. Using AI where you shouldn't is gonna backfire, big time. Also, just pl

Errr. Modern chess was not invented in India, but in ancient Persia. Afrasyab (the first pics on that site) is also the name of some character in Ferdowsi's Shah Nameh or Epic of the Kings (شاهنامه). The name of the elephant (called

Oh the irony. That website itself seems to have been designed or written by AI. I mean, it's not just the writing tone. There's a tone for everything AI does. The design tone, for instance.

Of course I agree with OP that one can't be nice to Nazis. But he should have also mentioned that one should not be nice to anyone who kills innocent humans. Not just the Nazis. EDIT: is there something wrong with my statement? Don

Actually, it does, it's just not so fixed about them. For instance: "I have gone", "I had gone" are said the same way, but there is a slight difference when you say "I have been going" and there is really

Exactly. The 1-to-1 tutor-style education was also mainly responsible for OxBridge producing some of the greatest minds to have come out of Europe. (I am not sure but I think to some extent this is still the case at Cambridge?)

Every language has its own quirks. In Chinese, you don't have this a/an difficulty, but the grammatical tenses are so fluid that a lot of contextual cues are needed to make sense whether "I went" [zoule 走了] means I reall

I am well aware of all the sites and YT, what you probably thought I live in a cave? I taught mathematics at Tsinghua for over a decade, so I know what I'm talking about. 3B1Br is great but only for a 'hobbyist'. There'

It is but not so hard as it appears now. Part of the difficulty is artificial. Whether intentional or not, it's there. I have yet to see a textbook that really taught learners as they deserve to be taught. Some are good in some aspects

Talking about frontier mathematics? Even the common for-mere-mortals version of mathematics is totally inaccessible to most people. Even to those who want to really learn it. Take a good look at the textbooks that teach mathematics and tell

Sure. In the first comment: science can only explain what happens, and even that, with no certainty. In the second comment: my first comment was getting downvoted heavily by the pseudo-quacks whose religion is science.

Attempts to tackle why in science are actually, underneath, just a how-it-really-happens, or what-happens answers. No scientist can explain the why , and most can't even explain the how (Heisenberg uncertainty, for one accessible

This thread, which I read most of, reads like a 'how to be a language-war thread without explicitly being one'. :) Just use the language the (keeps putting) puts bread on your table. All languages have their own 'baggage'
