It's hard for a startup to "swoop in", because Google uses statistical analysis in it's translation software if I understand correctly various articles about this topic. This means that they have thousands of correctly translated documents

I do not see the need to constantly evolve a language and/or push for rewrites from scratch. Java as a language succeeded precisely because it was relatively simple, yet powerful enough. For example, I believe that adding generics was a mis

You generally do not want to know who voted for which candidate. E.g. voting should be anonymous.

But you run emulator only first time (granted, that takes some time). Subsequently you deploy your app to already running emulator. That's pretty fast.

Winkey+w or winkey+e allows you to choose a window or desktop by mouse clicking. Copy/paste used to suck, but with newer ubuntu versions it works well for me. Notifications are not nice, I agree with you.

It seems old, but I still can't stand it:) and that's why I switch those controls back to the right side on every new machine that I use/install (via gconf-editor).

Android sells ... a lot. That's what's better. One would assume that if it sells well, then it must be good enough to compete with other modern mobile platforms.

Most of the time they do have the vision, but the problem is that every proposed reform is heavily objected to by the unions, pensioners, students and so on. For example, flat tax rate reform proposal under previous government, then the pen

Yes, but ipad is at least a generation behind hardware-wise. If I were to buy a tablet now , I'd rather pay $100 more for last generation hardware. The same as with PCs, mobile phones ... why pay premium price for old stuff?

Hmm, usually shareholders don't run the company. They own it. Stuff like choosing the tools, organization of R&D department and so on should be in the hands of the management. That's why you pay them.

Well, perhaps we'll see a stripped-down version of xoom later on. Half the memory, no 3g, single-core processor. Could reduce the price for a few hundred bucks. EDIT: I've found one bit of news that suggests there'll be a wifi only Xoom: h

I don't think that Motorola is after the whole market with Xoom. There are plenty of lower priced android tablets. So there's lots of choice for upper and lower end buyers. Also, ipad is priced from $500 to 900$, depending on specs , which

You've checked the specs, haven't you? Ipad with such hardware specs would cost a lot more, in my opinion. It's a question whether ipad2 will be able to match the specs of xoom. For me, hdmi port is a great feature.

But there's a possibility, for example, to use credit cards and wire transfers. I use them all the time (especially wire transfer), while I never use paypal. There's lots of stuff I bought that way online and had it shipped to my country.

I agree, geometry/algebra/arithmetic seem almost too easy. But then again, 1869 is not 2010. Maybe the expectations were different 130 years ago. Namely, if the tests were any harder, how many students would pass? I am from central Europe a
