These are actual issues recognised by the Flutter team themselves - you can't really hand wave them away as being standard iOS issues.

To add to the other replies here. It also puts the project in a precarious position since there is a huge amount of work involved in reimplementing UI controls from scratch and keeping them up to date with the platforms. If Google drops it

Great work, I downloaded and played around, it's a useful app and am glad it's working out for you. I may be picky as I work as an iOS developer but I definitely see the places where it doesn't look or feel native to me and u

I believe you but it's hard to make a reasonable comparison without knowing what your app does. I've seen some really janky Flutter apps on iOS.

Autobahn just means Highway, regardless I think the person you're replying to was making a general observation that public infrastructure, much like software is never really "finished".

Critical period hypothesis is somewhat debated in linguistics. Children and Adults just learn differently. Children have far less inhibitions and more time. The second part of your comment sounds like pseudoscience. I learned German in my l

I think your answer just solidifies their point since your proposed solutions are to avoid parts of the language and bolt two pieces of tooling on top.

As others mentioned you're not incompetent, ramp up on git in your downtime and the rest of the knowledge will come through work. The official git docs are actually pretty good. https://git-scm.com/book/en/v2

If you're giving up straight equity rather than options on a vesting schedule then yes but that isn't all that common for employees.

The last few are actually alright but there did seem to a be period where it broke every release and dropped highlighting and completion as sourcekit would crap out. Word is internal apple devs were also annoyed and complaining frequently.

> It's fast as shit Why does this keep being said about VSCode? Electron has it’s benefits and so does VSCode but it’s in no way fast or “fast as shit” as far as editors and even IDEs go, sorry but it’s slow.

Thanks for the info, from a quick look it also seems as if some people have managed to get simple Flutter apps running so that looks promising.

What would this look like practically? Say I want to port an iOS app to mobile linux? I know it's early days but what does the toolchain and distribution look like?

Well I'm not strongly against it either as I recognise other people need/want this feature, just personally as an iOS user and developer I'd rather not deal with it. All your points are valid though and perhaps some real comp

I'm not really excited about the prospect of alternate App Store or sideloading. The thing that irritates me about the whole thing however is I feel like we wouldn't be in this position with imminent regulation incoming if Apple e

Yeah that’s pretty wild. This resource pops up here a bit and it’s cool but there’s always a point where I’m like why would I do this in Bash and not Python/Ruby or something else.

I contracted for an IoT company that built hardware and software for the manufacturing industry, it was very profitable. I agree that the consumer side “smart toaster” part is garbage though.

We ended up with a system like this too but came at it from another angle - building offline sync. After reading your comment though I realise it can be more widely applied.
