Also anecdotal but I've also had the unpleasant experience of them suspending an account on the free tier through some automated system (still not 100% why, they didn't respond to our email). Account suspension results in all your

I try to argue for this approach as much as possible but it rarely gets through to product people.

It’s worse than that, not just web browsers, they’re also forcing these frameworks into desktop apps, mobile and embedded because they refuse to learn any other platform or language.

Yeah, I think it's a great feature of iOS. I think long term there isn't any reason Apple could not offer a way to integrate with the Settings.app, maybe in the similar way that they allow apps to build their own settings page int

An app owner can already pull all kinds of scams, it's Apple's job to enforce that they don't as much as possible, otherwise why are they taking such a large cut from my apps + 100 dollars per year?

That's true I forgot that it needs to work retroactively plus it's only in NL so it makes less sense to be available to everyone. Yes you can put it together quickly and no-doubt a package will appear on GitHub for those who don&#

But if you're going through manual app review anyway can they just enforce one-click subscription cancellation like they do with one-click user account deletion?

They also don't provide a view controller or something you can present to display the warning as they do with other things like this, you have to build the view yourself according to their silly specs... Phil Schiller needs to go.

It’s simple if you’re using mostly stock design and colours, it’s a bit more of a pain with a custom design system etc.

One problem is once every other app is supporting it, it's hard not too, especially on mobile. I'm working on an iOS app at the moment in which it was decided to defer doing dark mode - every time I switch into it on my phone in d

I might be wrong, I've never actually tried it, last time I looked the explanation on how it works is unclear which is pretty on-brand for Apple-Developer relations.

You can reset your rating with a new release so maybe it's something to do with that, I've never actually tried it but maybe it keeps the total review count but resets the average stars?

You’re not entirely wrong but I would push back a little and say that as a user, in a lot of situations I’m not given an actual choice and need to use a particular piece of software for one reason or another.
