I think we need more frameworks like Bootstrap. If people are wanting to simplify design by conforming to a framework, why not give them more choice so we don't end up with a hundred websites which all look like Twitter?

One of the main reasons i haven't really gotten into Android development is i really don't know what i am targeting. I think if there was some sort of standardised tier system for categorizing hardware capabilities (e.g. tier 1 = basic, tie

I find that while people put a lot of emphasis on making an "original" product, a lot of the more successful products tend to be clones. After all, if you come up with something completely original you need to do a lot of explaining to get

Anyone remember when game developers would outsource platform porting to other developers? A lot of the time they didn't even end up using the same code! How times have changed...

Anything you do not understand is inherently hard. The only thing i would say is uniquely hard about Objective C is getting your head around some of the APIs, but then again that can apply to any language.

Except maybe for funding, I don't get the obsession with wanting to base a startup in the US. If you have a good business model and great marketing skills, you should be able to create a successful business anywhere.

I've used HaXe in a few projects. Its a nice abstraction with strong typing and so on which helps with larger code bases. Combined with NME it is very powerful: one can compile code for html5, flash, ios, and android with little to no modif

This came across to me as a long rambling rant which amongst other things interchangeably referred to ruby as both "ruby" and "rails", but i got the feeling it was more about bashing rails. Rebuilding something because the older stuff is is

One thing i dislike about these sites is they mainly seem to deal with algorithmic problems - the sort you'd find in a typical programming textbook - rather than any genuinely interesting or fun challenge.

Having followed this project for around a decade, it amazes how slow it is being developed compared to Haiku. On the surface it looks like windows 2000, but as soon as you try and do anything useful, you bump into problems. Firefox hangs th

Many times i've wanted to finish a game which requires a succession of boring and repetitive commands to complete. Automating it like i do any other development task seems like the perfect solution!

One problem nowadays is the ballpark is more abstracted. Quite commonly one has to deal with bizarre API's and bureaucracy. If for example there is a problem with a library you are using, you can quite easily spend weeks trying to coordinat

Also interesting is this deconstruction of Super Mario World's camera logic. I never noticed so much thought was put into something as trivial sounding as camera movement. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCIMPYM0AQg

To me an open source project is 1% about the code and 99% about the community. Without a good community, you might as well not bother open sourcing the code.
