You don't pay extra for IO on EFS and some types of EBS (like mentioned here gp2). However, for some applications you optimize your storage to get most IO per $. In that terms EFS comes with some IO capacity as well as EBS. The point i

Price is a bit high $0.3 GB / month vs. $0.1 GB / month for SSD EBS and even less for local storage. S3 is even cheaper $0.03 GB / month. So EFS is 10 times more expensive than S3. On I/O front also EBS (gp2) and (st1) a

Would adding some tiny random size help? Based on my poorly understanding, if after compress, but before encrypt we add random 0 to 16 bytes or 1% of size that could defeat quite a lot of attacks (like CRIME).

In a place in which you live right now? I don't think there is universal answer. It depends a lot on your personal situation (connections/resources available/citizenship/lifestyle preferences).

What if Earth will be warming faster than we have predicted. Time to prepare time B with some geoengineering? At least fund research to have some plan and prototypes. Maybe that should have priority over article citing business :-P.

File storage and sync market get commoditized. E.g. for Dropbox pro with 1 TB $99/year + taxes. So this is roughly 20 times cheaper.

Yes you can do it with Selenium (I mean that in point 2), but IMO it is hard to setup and resource consuming. E.g. You need separate VM or Docket to have browser with virtual frame buffer. Using Web Driver also got a steep learning curve. W

With Moore's law slowing down, semiconductors can get commoditized. It happened with DRAM business in 1980s: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel#From_DRAM_to_microproces... Maybe CPU margins are going to drop too?
