Same thing happened to me. I wonder if I'll get my image ? Wait time is 300 hours so it'll be a while.

Putting on my trusting hat, I would think that MS is only transmitting enough data to keep the machine running and virus free without any intervention from the non-technical people. So it would be a safe machine for a small company without

I wonder if you would mind if your boss got burned out writing pay checks and decided he/she needed a break from writing them for a while? Meeting payroll is a stress that can be so huge, it will make you yearn for the day when you cou

Not sure what point you could be attempting to prove? That there is nothing more meaningful in this world than writing code?

Proximity to a particular repair shop is obviously a factor, that's fair. Where I'm at I can be at an Apple store talking to a tech within 30 minutes. For a major problem, I can be walking out of the store with a brand new laptop

The configs for .net I would definitely consider part of the code - they can have some really intense setup for the project! If I was forced to put credentials in there, then I would ignore web.config, but commit a web.config.default file w

The biggest reason is in case the original source goes away (the author removes a particular version for example). A lesser reason is to make it easier for others to get up and running without needing the build tools. I tend to leave them o

There's a trade off to having a laptop that seemingly defies the capabilities of the day - they have to glue parts and remove coverings. Apple has been shedding ports & user-serviceable parts in laptops for years to get them thinn

It requires the original license text to be included somewhere, nowhere does it say you have to give a credit or thanks. The author says specifically in his article that what the other person did was perfectly legit within the terms of MIT,

I agree it is a jerk move, but I also think it's a good lesson in choosing the appropriate license for your work. MIT is clearly not the right license if you feel that others should give you a courtesy credit. Regardless of how rude it

It seems to me that they focused really hard on the consumers, but perhaps it was the cleaners who were their true customers? Of course that becomes a niche business model which isn't that desirable for investors.

The fear of looking stupid is probably what stops most people from ever doing anything interesting. I do see an occasional startup fumblebrag and think to myself "that was a stupid idea." But I rarely think anybody is stupid for t

Oh, I'm not sad for this guy at all - he's doing this by choice. The sadness is the fact that housing is so unaffordable. The irony is that these successful companies have driven up the price, but the average worker there can bare
