LinkedIn is even worse, its practically impossible to browse without a login, they even call it an authwall in the link!

In my case docker not having a SUSE repo is a big hurdle, as I use docker everywhere.

Yeah but the speed of these repo refreshes is slow af. On Ubuntu/Debian I get 20MB/s, on Zypper I barely get .5mb/s DNF is slow too, not because the CDN is slow, but because it sucks at choosing mirrors, limiting to specific

This doesn't clarify anything

In my experience, you can just force DNF to download from certain regions, which fixes the speed for me. However nothing like that exists for Zypper.

My main problem with opensuse is no body uses it. Many projects either don't offer packages for it, or you need to use the in-distro package, which are certainly out of date. In addition to Zypper being dog slow.

Yes, he can even use the free RHEL Dev licenses, he just doesnt want to bother with any kind of licensing system.

Unfortunately no body is going to leave. Most of the subreddits protesting don't have any alternative links listed to a forum or Lemmy, meaning they have absolutely no leverage.

Because anything higher the 6800 is unofficially supported

A lot of wishy washy talk without anything to back it up. Anyone using alma or rocky should start planning their stream/RHEL Dev or Ubuntu/Debian migration.

Honestly I never use PPAs on Ubuntu, because Ubuntu universe has everything I ever need, and now its supported by Ubuntu PRO.

Isnt 100% compatible with RHEL, so the result won't really represent what would happen on RHEL.

Your 6700XT won't work anyway, since its not supported by ROCm

Did you try their support before coming to such opinions?

What drama with Wayland or flatpak? Its what the community has decided, every distro except Ubuntu has adopted flatpak. And Wayland is the default for both KDE and Gnome.

Thats not true with Ubuntu Pro, which includes support for way more packages than RHEL, 10 thousand to be exact, and is much cheaper with more features like included kernel Livepatching.

Old centOS is just a RHEL clone. The only supported version is CentOS 7, which is clone of RHEL 7

How? Rocky Linux is a RHEL clone, and RHEL isn't a direct copy from CentOS stream

But oracle or rocky can just subscribe to RHEL and continue having access to the source code, right?

No, please no, if Lemmy looked like old.reddit no body will ever use it. There are custom themes, but it should be never the default.
