Maybe what you describe happens with automated/integrated tools, but I doubt it. The "manual" way to interact with booking.com from a hotel is simply to create on booking.com a list of available rooms while on the hotel side

Not really-really. You are comparing your English QWERTY, with the French AZERTY, but there are many more languages QWERTY. On the Italian keyboard (which is also QWERTY) the round brackets need Shift, but the square ones need AltGR.

Cannot say if Notepad does it in recent versions, but on older Windows systems Wordpad was useful to quickly open texts made on Linux (with just LF instead of CR+LF) which in Notepad would show as uninterrupted.
