Try looking for "construction site time lapse camera", I have seen some where the time lapse can be regulated between something like 0.5s and 24h time, and they are by design outdoor/rugged and with long lasting batteries. It has to be seen which size of SD card will be needed for 24 h recording at 0.5s, and of course how long the battery will last. And probably they won't be as cheap as dashcams or trail cameras.
