I understand how it may seem confusing to non Italians but the marble quarry is in Tuscany, in the Apuan Alps[0], which are part of a different mountain range, the Apennine Mountains[1].
It is not in what are usually called Italian Alps [2] (in the north, on the border with France, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia)
