Thank you! This has been a point of confusion for me for a while, maybe I should get around to reading Roy's dissertation. Your post did clear things up :)

Don't you find it difficult to transition from one domain to another?

Thanks! I was really confused with this topic, and your post cleared things up. But from what I gather, proper REST API's wouldn't pair nicely with modern day UI development. Maybe this is because I usually work with APIs that wou

Not my area of expertise, but wouldn't most compiler books have chapters on generics work for general languages? You could use that to reason on how Java generics work.

Is it really? I would imagine that many immigrants don't buy homes outright before immigrating. Most immigrants I know rent out the first few years and start saving.

Haven't looked into what a nuclear war would look like, but would non-Nato, non-nuclear weapon holding counties be affected that fast? Suppose I lived in Niger, would most people I know be dead that fast? Would countries just hit any a

Great game! Is there any resources where someone can learn more about procedural generation? Curious to know what places one can learn about "full erosion systems".

Past few years we automated much of the more common problems. Making the platform highly configurable to the customer so a lot of use cases, especially when it comes to data generation, can be met. But due to the nature of the industry (reg

Interesting perspective, haven't thought about it like that. I think this % increase across the board was just so everyone is still making the same amount relative to the price index, so might not be applicable here for that specific i

My company did a 5% across the board raise late last year to make-up for inflation, since before then raises were ~2%, roughly keeping up with inflation from previous years(in Canada). This raise was on-top of the additional raise we will b

Thanks, I'll take a look. I was hoping to try my luck at open source. A few years ago I attempted trying to contribute, since a lot software really fascinated me. However, I always got intimidated by the code bases. Hopefully now I

I work with Java day to day. And I definitely fall victim to overuse of a functional style. Starting to think I shouldn't try to fit everything into a stream, but it's hard because that seems to be the general direction my company

For me the issue is rarely refactoring a single method, but trying to improve features given new tools and use cases. I'm always met with the same issue that it may cause regression and we would need to allocate more QA time. Really ha

Was you reason for this change purely because of the environmental impacts? I know a decent amount of people who are concerned for the environment, but tend to buy high end PCs, mainly for gaming.
