What does everyone think about the idea of having fairly minimal IT restrictions, but requiring the use of tools like Rescue Time? Would you take that tradeoff?

I haven't experienced this and my library is around 100 GB. Could it be something with your disk? Is the library on a local disk or remote disk? What's the speed (rpm) of the disk?

When you're pulling long days or all nighters, you need to watch your diet. It's easy to eat too much and gain weight. At the same time, if you're really only sleeping 4 hours a night, then you need extra calories to burn for those extra

Once I actually used it, even in its current buggy pre-alpha state, I realized that Wave is actually pretty cool and there are all sorts of ways in which I would prefer to use a tool like wave over a wiki, email or IM. I believe Wave has s

I can confirm that you'll lose a fair bit of momentum in the move. In the long term, it can be great. But in the short term, you'll increase your burn rate and your work can stop all together as you figure out the rules of working in the

I moved to Hong Kong as well, though lately I've been in Guangzhou quite a bit. Hong Kong is actually a great location if you're interested in China. Getting investment visas is not too difficult and living costs are similar to the US. If

A little late for that, but here's hoping. Stability in a number of Ruby projects is a real problem: Rails, rspec, numerous plugins and gems. I wouldn't care so much if everyone used a versioning system that clearly communicated when thing

You wouldn't hear about it if the Rails Core and Rails Activist team members would address the issue rather than simply defend themselves and insult everyone else.

I'm trying to point out that the real issue here isn't sexism, but excessive individualism. This goes beyond the simple philosophy of working on what interests you to an actual disdain to working with or for others. Rails core doesn't car
