You'd imagine, but this conference software apparently only requires a pin that's visible as a GET parameter in the URL. I don't think you can blame the users for posting a screen shot.

NTFS performance leaves much to be desired on Windows too, it really hurts for workloads dealing with lots of small files, such as programming.

Using conditional includes in your global gitconfig based on the path is a much less error prone way of having different identities for different projects. https://www.motowilliams.com/conditional-includes-for-git-co...

When I looked at the shutdown procedure for k3s I ran away in horror: it's basically firing off kill signals left and right and leaves all kinds of stuff laying around like bridges and temp state, making it hard to restart it if you do

I solve this by using dynamic versioning based on the git tags, and building a wheel of the project outside of the docker-build process, and installing the wheel in the container image. I have to pass in the wheel version as a buildarg thou

I have an HP LaserJet MFP M28w, and it's actually somewhat decent! It does B&W prints, and that's actually all we need at home. I can print directly from my phone, scan directly to my phone, and amazingly, I can print from Lin

TV's are hopelessly underpowered computers as well, it easily takes 20 seconds to start the app for a streaming platform, and then input latency is really bad too. Really miserable UX.

Strange then that the WSL2 guest gets a RFC1918 private address, because that would imply that the host is NATing traffic to and from the guest. However that does not happen through the ordinary Hyper-V NAT routing machinery -- at least Get

Microsoft effectively forked Linux here -- some pieces such as integration with the host NTFS filesystems or Direct3D support are unlikely to ever be upstreamed. Yes it's Linux, but not really. Another way you can tell it's not ac

You get a Microsoft-supplied kernel, which has modifications to integrate more with the host OS. I'm not going to make a value judgement about it being the real thing or not, but it's definitely not the stock kernel that comes wit

People get that mailing revisions of documents back and forth feels rickety. In my immediate circle I noticed that people some mild amazement that geeks use Wiki-style collaboration environments instead of office suites.

I feel a lot of people are missing the point of self-hosting here. Do we really want to run everything under the sun in three big cloud providers?

There's really nothing useless about that use of cat: it makes the pipeline compose better from left to right. It's not like you have to pay 25 cents for each process you spawn.

Moreover, a silver bullet is meant to be especially effective in very specific scenarios, ie. shooting werewolves or vampires, whereas in colloquial usage 'silver bullet' refers to a thing that works well under all circumstances.

You don't need an app for taking a screenshot. Windows used to include the Snipping Tool I think since Windows 8, and nowadays in Windows 10 it's just functionality baked into the OS: press Shift+Win+S to access it.

Your definition of safe must be different than mine, because car drivers are protected by wrinkle zones, roll cages, airbags and seatbelts, whereas a cyclist is less visible, takes up less space and has ~nothing to protect their body.

Gameplay is way more important than graphics. Source: played a lot of fun but crap-looking games in the 90s on a 320×200 four-shades-of-amber screen. Or what about the 160×144 Gameboy screen that also supported 2-bit color?
