I really like the idea of polls, I think that they would get a better idea of where people stood with actions then just their votes for a good idea (where do you host is one that immediately comes to mind) (do you have funding) (how many st

I think that the fact that so many have said "YC got it's first spammer" so many times, is such a good testament to how fast spammers are dealt with. Thanks!

For us: We have 'tiers' and bill a user based on which tier their use fits in, if they increase enough to be in the next tier, they get everything that goes with it, if they only have a small increase, they get an overage, that is some cost

Anybody who is highly specialized, and considers themselves more of an artist than an engineer cringes when you say 'make this super generalized' Try telling a graphic designer to make a template for a few dozen random sites.

authorize.net supports subscriptions. it's pretty easy to manage, but I don't know if its the cheapest (it's at least reasonable for our needs, and easy, which is more important than cheap to me most of the time.)

From my (recent) research, I would say 'not primairly' I agree with bmatheny that using it for some things may be a good idea (if video-to-flash conversion is eating up resources, EC2 is good, if you're running out of HD space, S3 is good)

Ok, so same question, different form. Is anybody managing servers in-house? When PStamatiou points out that you can have a cheap, low power PC for less than $200 (I'd make the majority of them diskless, for less than $150 now), what kind of

Yeah, I am actually already doing quite a bit client side, I have no idea what got you downmodded, btw, but as far as scaling for overall bandwidth, I still can't use one server forever, no matter how the software is architected.
