It's programmable. I'm sure iTerm2 will allow you to make the whole damn thing an escape key if you want. Also sure, its not a physical button, but it's still pretty dishonest to go around saying they removed the key and thus

That's fair. My experience has been, at least with the iPhone, that they've made an effort to make it more and more responsive as time has gone on. Tangentially, this is why I don't understand people who install these third p

This sort of surface-y anger makes the rounds every time apple does _anything_ to their hardware.

I don't understand why people keep saying they've "removed" the escape key. The thing is programmable. http://live.arstechnica.com/hello-again-apples-october-2016-...

Sadly this seems to be the same old pile-on that happens after every apple product announcement: > #1. No Escape and function keys [...] The Escape and Function keys on the laptops have been abandoned in favor of a touch bar that changed

Thanks for your response, sorry it took me so long to respond! Personally the cluster pattern is more intuitive for me and the problems I solve. I had thought that there was a sense that using multiple dbs in one redis instances was a bit o

The stats for the Cintiq Companion 2 are in the same ballpark and, from personal use, the thing has a hard time providing smooth UI when editing very large photoshop, illustrator, or unity projects. I think you're right that artists la

One of the screenshots shows function-like buttons. I'm assuming you'll be able to map spaces of the OLED strip's screen to arbitrary keys. Also I'm sure that, given some time, you'll be able to have ESC show up onl

I thought that, with the introduction of redis cluster in 3.x, they were moving away from multiple logical "dbs" that had indicies. Are they going to continue to multiple databases in 4?

I thought a similar thing when I read this. Somewhat sad, but my first thought was that the second we near parity with the discrepancy between wage and representation between genders in IT/Engineering you'll see claims of "re

Specifically, we're better than allowing anecdotes to masquerade as data, even when we feel vague discomfort coming from the general direction of the issue being discussed.

Or, we (engineers) could all take a cue from workers of the past and organize to demand an end to abusive labor practices. Seriously guys, just because we're making 10x the salary of a miner doesn't mean we're not also genera

It's annoying. One thing I do know is that there is an experimental flag for turning on a "mute" option when you right-click a tab.

What is the appropriate phrasing, then? "This website is a surrogate for apple that posts their press releases without analysis?" I just don't see what the practical difference is: we're all adults, we know the point tha

Can anyone who bought Dash confirm or deny that you can still access it from the "purchased" tab in the app store? This used to be the behavior for paid apps that were delisted† and I assume it still is. † I remember it happening

I know this doesn't treat the totality of what you're saying but in the past (and I assume it to be the case here) if you paid for the app on the app store it'll be available for download even if it's delisted. This was

How is this a personal attack? It simply acknowledges that both of these websites are written by individuals. Would the substance of the comment be different had he simply used the website's names?

I don't think this communicates the _incredible_ amount of creative and technical work required not only to simply fill out over 100,000 characters in the UTF-8 space but to make them stylistically consistent.

To be honest I think the chrome extension storefront(?) is pretty decent as well. It's just a matter of curation from the point they've got it at. The reality is that the average user _wants_ a barrier to entry: no one likes what

This is an excellent example: all of those less "walled gardens" ended up a mess of malware and abusive advertising. It's a pretty clear trade-off so far as I can tell.
