The article bit misleading, almost suggests that software correctness is achieved by testing, while this is definitely not true. Just for the record, none of the other technical fields using testing for safety critical engineering products

I have to disagree especially with your last point. I just use React to render the UI not to replace the entire backend application with JS. For that, React is perfect.

How about taxing corporation based on their income rather than on the profit? Just like you and me are taxed.

I think targeting a smaller community is always easier and works better but all the investors would like to see is plan for world domination, aka "make something great for everyone".

Yes I think Lightroom started to offer online services a while back. I also use DSLR and the bandwidth is not there yet to upload it from a mobile. At the same time, an average user (99%) wants to take a picture with a mobile phone and uplo

Yes, I went through all of the settings, and it was weird because I set up backup all pictures from the very beginning. One thing, that is also happening on Android, after an upgrade the app loses some or all the settings. http://

I have been using this for a while and one day I realized it is skipping some pictures when backing up. I went through all of my pictures and noticed ~5% is missing. This was the last day when I trusted Google with picture backups. On the o

Maybe the trickle down economics does not work, and we should tax the corporations more (like it used to be) and lift the tax on the lower wage workers? Maybe. The problem is that both parties are in the pocket of the big corporations and t

Well as you can see HN is heavily biased towards Scala (they are downvoting you for no reason, while a very unprofessional comment above gets upvoted). Anyways, thank you for being awesome and working on Quasar and the other PU project open

I am not sure if butt-hurt is the technical terminology I would use here. They don't want to be put up with Scala, please respect their decision as much as everybody else respect yours.

I mean how much the developers are picking up this. I see it as a pattern that developers sometimes reject new features on the basis that "they don't need it".

I think this is a great language feature, using it a lot in OCaml and Clojure. I am not sure how much this will improve JS but I guess we can just wait and see.

I agree, I would not recommend Hadoop for a startup to install and maintain it. There are several datawarehouse as a service offerings out there. More recently there was a rise of good and cheap cloud based systems and Redshift got a lot be

Thanks. I think Erlang is the grandfather of languages using the actor pattern and at the same time Joe realized that POSIX threads does not belong to business logic code and it can be done without leaking the number of actual OS threads to

On the other hand, Hadoop is great for analytics. If it is down there is no customer facing outage. Sometimes the failover works and only few things lost, you are back in ~15 minutes if you want to check the fs image consistency. For intern

Actually I know several projects bursted into flames because of Hadoop. There is a notion among some developers of Hadoop solving all of the problems and this is the only solution they consider (literary). Needless to say that real time sys

I think he was saying it is unlikely. "In summary: there is no SMP support in OCaml, and it is very very unlikely that there will ever be. If you're into parallelism, better investigate message-passing interfaces."

I am wondering what Google uses nowadays. Regarding Tso & co, I am not so optimistic. How they communicate on the mailing list is more like: "Look we wrote this, it runs on my laptop fine it might work for other workloads too"
