Could not agree more, the only downside is that some companies see you as a job hopper, but you can just explain to them that losing 30K-40K/year (aka staying in your job) is not an option

Nice one. Yes the GC pauses are usually the root cause of higher p99+ latency. Anyways, the 10ms-100ms range is pretty amazing by itself. With such a huge throughput it is hard to measure latency accurately you are kind of forced to use sam

Which p value is the 10 milliseconds? I would like to hear about the p99.99 latency of this platform. More on this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MKY4KypBzg

I think the first one is a single function that has pattern matching for the parameter while the second one is defining the function twice and relying on the language to call the right one based on the parameter. I think in Erlang the funct

I don't think that OpenSSL is a great example of OSS, there are several areas where they don't follow bad practices for no reason and you can just look at their history of serious security flaws. Why would you want to integrate wi

I think you are confusing two things here. - calculating the n-th element of the Fibonacci sequence - representing it correctly in code The first one is (assuming the second is present, see code above): (nth (fibo) 10)

BART os not even remotely close to be good, but it is lightyears away from being great. The only thing that is consistent about BART service is the interruption. It is kind of funny how people from US see BART as a great service while peopl

Generally speaking the best for the modern batteries in our laptops is to be charged between 20 - 80 %. I think Apple fiddles with the 100% and it is not the actual 100%. I am not able to find a credible source to confirm this. Ideally you

Thanks, I think you end up killing your Erlang processes most of the time because this is the model you follow when programming in Erlang. Using HTTP as example, while in other systems it is a really bad idea to have 1 req -> 1 process (

What I am saying is that the Erlang GC is good enough from the practical point of view. I am not sure what value are you trying to add with the "fully concurrent" GC.

There is but what is relevant from the design of the Erlang concurrent GC is that your actor operations latency is not impacted by it. This is why Erlang is extremely suitable for HTTP routers and request dispatch because you can maintain t
