See above, I am talking about the frequency of catastrophic failures. I agree it is not a good comparison.

An interview that forces you to do something that is otherwise not part of your daily routine and measures how good you are based on that is bad. I understand that you need to get insight into the skill of the candidate but forcing her to w

I agree with your assessment only thing I did not understand is the Erlang integration with other languages. I am not sure if he is saying that NIFs are bad or he is saying there are is not support for other languages. I think non of these

There are several reasons why FreeBSD is ditching GCC, one of them is licensing. I am wondering what are the technical reasons though...

Not much of a hate but rather protecting their IPs by avoiding licenses like GNU. They are not alone in this, most of the big companies are avoiding it. Some companies use it and hoping for not getting caught (VMWare). I still don't se

This kind of implies that HTTPS is secure. :) I dont think there is anything wrong using HTTP internally in a datacenter for data that is not sensitive (like monitoring, statistics, etc.). I guess you can still access these in legacy mode.

I love Twitter the most out of any social platforms. I think their problem partially is that the software stack is too expensive. This problem often missed because everybody is focusing on capabilities and features. Performance, and being e

I don't know about any major project. I was waiting for MS to commit to running CLR on Linux (or any unix like clone) so that I can consider the CLR languages seriously (I am very interested in F# in particular).

Pretty good series, using Haskell (it has a pretty decent type system and the type syntax is easy to understand, OCaml's is a bit more confusing) for the examples. Great coverage as well on types and category theory.
