I don't like the idea of linking VPN usage with something shady or illegal. Privacy is a human right, and knowing that I'm using a VPN or not doesn't change how "authentic" or truthful the post is.

I love this post. While I don't mind markdown for quick notes which require basic formatting (headlines, bold, maybe a link), time and time again, I've found myself having to build parsing libraries and scripts for specific use ca

I think group chats (per interest gathering places) without incentives for engagement are the most natural and least likely to cause harm due to the exposure alone.

This is a technical community, I think you can imagine the majority of visitors (hopefully) understand data and charts.

Ah yes, nothing like the right propaganda thing where a random chart is made to magically align with their rhetoric without actually being so in reality.

So does this apply to all social medias? (Threads, X, Bluesky, IG, etc) how come they didn’t have this evidence from their users well? Or maybe they didn’t bother to ask.. I suppose the harm from social networks is not as pronounced (since

And it's very easy to start with something that is also "social": - https://write.as - a https://writefreely.org instance that also syncs with Mastodon, so people can see/discover/subscribe&#

I think you’re missing the point of the post. It’s not about that specific app. It’s how Apple approaches such topics without context and with extreme prudishness.

It’s such a well written (and factually correct) post, I don’t get the hate at all.

Loved the post. I think Apple has always been a little too prudish. This was fine when they were the smaller phone maker. Now today, both as a developer and a consumer you’re forced to consider Apple and their limits. I remember when all da

By the way, most material support by the US is actually purchased by other NATO members. The US recycles the facade of support, there is very little actionable support.

The reason for minification is not hiding the source code (which is impossible), but to reduce the payload size served to clients. Web pages (even web apps) are documents fully available to clients where users can choose to view, inspect an

Ok, let’s not have the is Bluesky decentralised discussion again. Kudos to Bluesky’s PR efforts to use complex technology to basically sell themselves as whatever people want to hear (like NFTs but social media). There are a number of X

I’m very happy to see a US organisations picking this up finally. Apple/Google clearly want to fight this on a country by country basis so they can stretch it until forever. Hope the pressure results in meaningful changes for all.

“We” are the ones making the architecture and the technical specs of these services. Taking care for it to still work when your favourite FAANGMC is down seems like something we can help with.

The Bunny Shield is quite similar to the Cloudflare setup. Maybe not 100% overlap of features but unless you’re Twitter or Facebook, it’s probably enough. I think at the very least, one should plan the ability to switch to an alternative wh

Funny that’s exactly what the “more intelligent Siri” was promised to be too but for “brand” reasons, there was less of a backlash. Either way, we have Silicon Valley agents and mini agents running around our gadgets now.

These are both very long-term games. I think preventing a trade war is definitely better on the short term so I'm not opposed to a softer flavour of these directives (it's not permanent after all, they can be adapted again). Than
