I'm not a fan of this at all. I wonder if there is a market for something like a CentOS/RHEL base system (think slow moving core system) with a faster pace of release for the desktop applications for a small fee. I kinda get this on my lapt

For Java or Scala I use an IDE. Currently Eclipse but I'm giving IntelliJ an honest shot at the moment. I find that Java requires an IDE for me to be productive, even though I used emacs back in the Java 1.0 days. For C and Python I use ema

I'm a full time remote employee in a company where 90% of the staff work in office. And I do miss out on a lot. Fortunately I have a few close friends I've made there who keep me filled in on the dirt. As a side note. Product management oft

Does gmail web have a unified inbox? Not that I've seen. Why should the mobile client by Google have one.

I once had a VPS provider lose everything. And shame on me for not having current backups. And that was when I switched to blogger. While I have yet to do it for myself, I've setup some sorta automated backup of the text from blogger for my

I'm plugging away on a service to allow mobile developers to add messaging and location services (and some simple online storage) to their apps without having to write the backend themselves - and provides high availablility. Sadly I feel l

This kinda hit home for me. I live in the city I grew up in yet hardly have any friends here. I work remotely with people around the world and my best friends are thousands of miles away and we meet up any various places around the world. D

If you want to use BitBucket, but still get the exposure of GitHub, its relatively easy to setup an hourly sync. Just turn off the wiki and issue tracker at GitHub, and link to the BitBucket ones in your README or something like that.

I could never get the trackpad quite right, and the battery never lasted as long as it did with OS X. My travel kit is dual laptops. One Linux and one Mac. So far the T430s with 16gb RAM is looking very close to ideal.
