I take issue with this article under the Effective Altruism concept. 100% agree with the title, that the it is very not impactive. But it isn't actively harmful, which there's a LOT of other ways to spend $300m and actually be har

Absolutely true and the "small number of users" clearly are your power users. You don't mess with power users without some clear path. For better/for-worse, they tend to be rather influential.

That's amazing. Mercedes has the first certified level 3. Only a few states, but the rest will come. Tesla is falling behind due to its hubris.

It's not LIDAR alone it's a combo. The problem of course is that Tesla/Elon is being stubborn and unwilling to put the "expensive" lidar claiming that pictures is enough to work on. Maybe it is, but not today.

> Tesla has made self-driving (for some definition of self-driving") I'd be okay with this if they weren't f'ing it up. Put Lidar in there and just get it right. Stop w/ this non-sense.

I think the criticism is fair - charging takes time. I'll speak personally from my parents who are pushing 70. They purchased a Tesla because of the EV credits and overall price attractiveness. My dad tells his friends about it because

Previously we were giving our old laptops to friends with kids. Now our kids use our old Macbook air to learn to type and other learning programs. My old MBP runs our 2010 "smart" TV via HDMI. It's not perfect because we have

Yeah I really dislike that. It's putting a code path that will never run in production. This feels like code that has special switch `if env.is_test` just because you needed that for a spec. It's a really bad practice. This librar

Agreed that you're talking about physics, but how does that translate into society? At some point you have to move away from physical requirements. The barter system simply doesn't scale.

If you remove fractional reserve lending there's almost no loans available. Access to capital is one of the keys too allowing a company or asset grow. All growth stops and you get deflation. Which isn't healthy either.
