Do the people here preaching github being a useful tool for candidate evaluation realize there are private repos? I use github everyday but none of the outsiders looking at it are going to get a sense for my coding style because they can&#x

Is it not true that Basic Authentication requires TLS due to transporting credentials as plain text but other variations encrypt the credentials at a higher level before being put on the wire? In that case why is TLS a necessity?

Isn't using the "auth" snippet more an example of rolling your own crypto? Why not use established libraries like passportjs? Super curious.

This comment is a spot on example of the behavior stdbrouw was advocating against further up in the thread. The nobility of having a child should not be factored into the decision. There is no "greater good" agenda pushing people

In my anecdotal evidence many of the childless couples I know seem to be composed of the happiest, healthiest, and high achieving individuals I know. I live in a large American city. It is probably different out in the boonies but I'm

You can definitely be prepared for what it is like to have a child before having one. Everything you know is not wrong. Yes, it may be a lot of work but it is not beyond the realm of comprehension for us mere mortals.

Definitely a technical thing... but I agree using a tiling windows manager has brought new and improved changes to my work flow as a developer. The thing no one ever talks about is you must also have a standard (gnome, kde, etc) windows man

Is it just me or does it seem like people glaze over how hard it is to land a job with the major players. I have a degree in CS and every time an article popups about their interviewing process or a random comment on a successful applicant

Love the non-fiction advice, I wish it had been a bigger push when I was in school. I didn't enjoy reading until I picked up non-fiction as an adult.

I'd just like to point out that parenting can play a huge role in this process. If your parents encourage critical thinking and act as sounding boards to the proverbial "what do I want to be when I grow up?" then yes, a lot o
