They used to do this and it almost led to the death of the company. I’m sure they’re quite hesitant to try again. Instead, you can look into the hackintosh project

> If the test improves people’s sense of well-being without tanking user engagement , it could expand to more countries So presumedly Facebook has a metric that models a user’s well being and values engagement more.

It seems like the checklist blurs the lines between a language and standard libraries, something that shouldn’t be controversial but should be noted. The checklist also seems to favor dynamic languages. E.g. does Go deserve to miss a checkm

I’m surprised this doesn’t go without saying. As a divemaster intern I never dared even park in the lot during school days. I found a spot on the street. In college I was a paintball ref. There were separate lots for employees that was fart

Am I the only one still disappointed that with a dedicated pseudo-desktop experience we still don’t have Xcode? The iPad Pro will truly be a pro portable device when it can make its own apps.

Wouldn’t this be a systematic violation of the candidate’s right to be forgotten? It seems like this is the now-missing part of the puzzle: other countries still have sovereignty over their data but explicitly using a vpn to access legally

I think Torvald’s stance is reasonable when considering a customer’s safety as guaranteed by an organization. E.g. this build is signed as safe. Commit signatures are useful in large organizations designed to worry about insider threats. If

Probably. Loss aversion may make the user more likely want to recover $2 rather than pay $2 to upgrade to tracking-free versions. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loss_aversion

Absolutely. The headline does Amazon a favor by distancing corporate greed from their actual brand. E.g. this brutality would make me think twice about working as a SWE there.

This reminds me of a mongo optimization problem I faced years ago. Given the query {x:A, y:B} where x is a scalar and Y is an array, it was 40x faster to index [x, y] than [y, x]. Both indexes will show a query plan that’s index only and wi

No, but I wouldn’t go into more details in a real handle. It’s good to see topics like this show up from time to time; I hope they chip away at the stigma that the US has towards mental and emotional health. For those that struggle, a suppo

I recently bought a house in CA. Knowing this legislation was pending I didn’t get roommates. I’d rather AirBnB than be forced into rent control. That’s now two rooms off the market.

This is an inherently classist attitude. I (and presumedly you) can get a new job easily and are in a labor seller’s market. This often isn’t the case universally or employers wouldn’t be able to act like this.

The part about divers crying into masks hit home. It was on my bucket list to dive in the Great Barrier Reef but it’s now been declared dead. 95% of my diving has been in the last 25% of my diving career because I know I have a limited time

Common retort: don’t just downvote me, tell me why I’m wrong. I’m a professional who had signed off on legal documents. Why would the buck not stop at me? That’s the way it works in architecture and other professions.
