There's a bit of a nuance here. Even if you join the Blaze plan (pay as you go) there's still a large free quota. The quota is actually much larger than you get with Spark as well. We just can't allow arbitrary REST calls wit

I really don't understand this assumption that all acquisitions are going to lead to disaster. I work in the Firebase team at Google and couldn't be happier that they've joined (it's what got me to return to Google). Goo

There's a special circle in hell for people taking calls in a crowded bus. Though to be fair it's several layers above the circle for people taking calls in a bathroom stall.

I travel a lot for work and LA/OC is consistently the only city where I bother to get a rental car. Most places I'd want to go are far away from each other and public transit is often stigmatized and underdeveloped. I went to high

The proof seems pretty easy to reduce with a smaller example: there are 17 mines. One cluster is in a 3x3 box and another is in a hollow 3x3 box. Which is which?

I'm not sure I buy the argument that Apple's inventors per patent means they're a more open or egalitarian companY. The hotspots seems to suggest that Apple just has a culture of giving management credit on the patents.

I've heard (and sometimes pushed) this rhetoric before, but something should be well understood before it's automated. Things that happen very rarely should be backed with a playbook + well exercised general monitoring and tools.

That seems to be the point. Proper or idiomatic scala code uses tools only available to scala. I used scala for a while. It has some neat tricks that I grew to like, but I think it ultimately had a problem I noticed in Ruby: there are many

I always reconciled this as a T shaped graph instead of a box. It's important to have depth in the service area you can control and a breadth of understanding across your dependencies since Google builds service oriented architectures.
