This site has some nefarious cloudflare thingy on it that tells me that my machine is infected. I am quite sure that is not the case. It will not let me access the website in question unless I enable third party cookies which is something

I think the "loop" is indeed moving on. The last real mini-revolution this side of the line probably were torrents. The whole social web is just wrong. It's centralized. It's not the web - it is a corruption of it. It is like the great

This is completely true and exactly the place I am stuck at. I have a product with major parts in RoR, that the business end user loves but the IT just won't let through. I have to now learn asp.net mvc and port everything over to it. I

Hindi doesn't have capital letters either. I think we recognize a name more by it's context than the case of the first letter. If I found a hindi word I didn't recognize, I would still be able to tell if it were a name or not. Perhaps c

It's back up. From the site: "If you've arrived here from yardoc.org/docs or rdoc.info, don't be alarmed. We've finally merged the two sites just like we said we'd do, And we made sure none of your project URLs were harmed." Excellent! I

My pitch: Improved speed and security all over the place, a saner mailing solution, lazy queries and first class support for rails engines. (A/B testing whole engines out kind of things are what I find exciting.) Having said that, this ve

Exactly. Von Neumann architecture, null string termination in C and lack of encryption in TCP/IP are all arguably the things we got spectacularly right. All these three are efficiency + simplicity vs features + complexity trade offs. Ima

This is insane. I have just had to explain 3 people on #ruby-lang why my error log has 1.9.1 in it if I am running purely 1.9.2. This tangentially breaks the principle of least surprise. I can't see any good reason for doing this. This w

So in India, the print will cost me about 10 grand per year and the pdf a grand. I wish I were in college. I could just get my library to subscribe to it.

Other than the usual ones mentioned here, in a rails specific environment, I use rsense[1], acp[2], rails.vim[3]. This works really well for me and I would recommend it to any rails developer. [1] http://cx4a.org/software/rsense/ [2] ht

Just in case, it's not obvious to someone, that comic is built using panels from different actual C&H. The first time I came across it I was intrigued how I had missed this one and went out hunting for it's publishing date.

Fair enough but url shorteners break the web[1][2]. That is quite clearly not a good trade-off. I avoid url shorteners unless they be absolutely necessary. [1] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/URL_shortening#Criticism_and_pr... [2] http://
