I agree with all of these, and I personally would say that the most important ones are version control and OOP. They're two that I put off for a while as a self-taught programmer, but have paid off the most. I started with PHP, which lulls

Baby boomers are starting to retire. That's a large demographic that isn't good with computers. Maybe find an industry that caters to them where technology can help. It doesn't sound like fun to me, but where there's muck there's brass.

Come to Cleveland! It's cheap, and no beaches or sun will guarantee that you'll be indoors coding all day :)

I don't think shared hosting has the "home-run" type upside that he's looking for.

Wow, thanks for the list. That's more features than I have time to add though. For some of the bigger items like the whiteboard, I'm hoping people can use other services in the mean time. Some of those items are being worked on now though

Thanks, those are great points. Spam hasn't been an issue so far, which is good. I'm working on a couple of those things already. I'm not sure if it's busy enough yet to generate an active IRC channel for each class, but people are alway

I saw that item on the list and thought that it resembled the website I recently launched: http://www.crunchcourse.com/ Is that similar to what you were thinking? I'd be interested to get your feedback on it.

Why can't someone answer with "our team" or "they way we execute"? If your competitor is always a step behind you copying features you wrote last month, doesn't that guarantee that you'll always be ahead of them?

Have you seen Twitter Feed? That has a lot of features and is pretty easy to use (and free).

Not sure about the legal stuff, but I'm still curious about the making money part. So the business model is either 1) advertising, or 2) getting acquired? That's what I think of when I hear "Web 2.0 business."

I think Eric Sink describes some strategies for setting up a booth for trade shows in the Business of Software. So it must have worked for him, but I think that was after he had a profitable business. I'm not sure how important that would

I think Mark Cuban wrote a blog post complaining about how he wanted to hire a bunch of people for cheap, but if they added value to the Mavericks then he would have to pay them minimum wage.

Hmm... it sounds like you didn't follow any of the advice in the article. Shows that there's more than one way to quit a job. What was his reaction when you said that you didn't like the way employees are treated?

Could you have worked 9 - 5 or 10 - 6 if you wanted to? Or was there pressure to work when everyone else did?

Initially it would be "you didn't hit that string cleanly, try again" which would move to "you played that progression well, nice job!" Then it could move to "You nailed 80% of those chords and your timing was AVERAGE." I'm assuming that

1. Pick your target keywords ( https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal ) 2. Make sure those keywords are on your page and maybe urls also. 3. Get links. More the better. Not from spammers.

Congrats on the launch. I saw the presentation for this at the FSTA conference and thought it was a great demo. I'm glad to see that the add-on is as good as it looked on stage.
