A world leaded by creationism, neo-imperialism and capitalism now facing climate & pollution induced mass extinction. What a beautiful time to be alive.

have you tried pybind11? if you accept going from C to C++, all the dirty job is done for you, exposing a C++ function is one line and can use numpy arrays directly in the function.

Ah, Bill's again advocating for a techno-optimist utopian world where he can fly his private jet with Green Hydrogen (TM) while saving us from climate change. Can't wait for the Veritasium video! Science is clear and simple: we ha

I've read that some primates, Homo Sapiens are quite invasive too: Possibly fought all others from the Homo line to extinction, destroyed 80% percent of Earth ecosystems and setting the stage for a pretty swift mass extinction event, p

I worked a few months during my PhD on Seiberb-Witten theory, a specific supersymmetric quantum field theory that undergoes symmetry breaking (Higgs like, due to the scalar field) and the resulting moduli space (space of parameters) can be

I did a lot of woodworking and lutherie during my PhD in High Energy Theoretical Physics. When you work all week in 20 dimensional non-Riemannian manifolds with torsion, it's really nice to come back to Euclidean 3D space and make wood

by some authors, this decline is 3 orders of magnitude faster than what is inferred from fossil records of the last extinction event. global warming might increase that by an additional 2 orders of magnitude. the good news is that it can st

No. You are wrong. The problem is not (only) the population size, the problem is the rich that consume enormously more ressources than the poor. https://theconversation.com/amp/emissions-inequality-there-i...

If you're into tensor algebra i can only recommend the beautiful piece of Software Cadabra is: https://cadabra.science/ We wrote an article with it once, 40th order in the Lagrangian, perhaps 50k pages of calculations

It's maybe worth mentioning that the beams at CERN are made of quite a few particles and there was as much energy in the beam as in a high speed train (and same in the magnets), before the high luminosity upgrade. The beam dumps are ma
