Yeah, I do video production work and Firefox is useless when it comes to video. If it even can play half the things, it's going to suck up a lot of computer power to do it.

That is good news. I was planning on cancelling my Prime membership at the end of this yearly subscription. But the Expanse officially justifies it.

The newspaper is such a pivotal piece of society. It's heartbreaking to go to a photojournalism conference that used to be 400 newspaper photographers, and now there's maybe a handful. Everyone is doing editorial or surviving on g

I just had a flashback to the G4 and G5 era. The day they announced Apple announced the move to Intel there was a huge sigh of relief from everybody I knew, especially those in the Media industry. I don't see a lot of good coming from

Amen. I've been thinking about this a lot lately. But almost nobody is offering RSS at the moment and most publishers who do drop the ball. Feeds are broken or partial. It might be time to start from scratch though, I'm not sure R

CUDA support is pretty critical for a lot of media production. I'm thankful that official support is here. The downside is a Mac Pro looks like a rats nest of cables with external video I/O cards, 10GbE cards, eGPus. It's a

This happens a lot. You could probably find 20 photographers in my area who capture frames with the same timestamp during a sunset by a lighthouse.

I bought myself the NYT Sunday edition in print for 2017. If they could fix their subscription model I would have kept it, but after a year it doubled in price and customer support gave me flashbacks of trying to deal with AOL. I started r

Upgradability and serviceability is a big concern for a very niche market. If I ran a smaller shop, the iMac Pro would be a clean solution to a complex problem. But once you hit edit-bays at scale the technical problems exponentially grow.

I'm happy to see something with professional specs coming from Apple. I have serious concerns with the iMac Pro in terms of heat while rendering for many days of the year. The Mac Pro trash can is notorious for overheating, so I'

What about macOS 10.12? I haven't seen enough stability across applications with High Sierra to make the upgrade for work machines. I guess we'll have to just wait it out to see what they actually release.

I have been fearing that this would happen. I subscribed around 6 months ago, but have yet to receive a print issue in the mail to date. After contacting support they gave me the runaround claiming delays. Over the last few months the numb

Not really. The Mac Pro, while insanely quiet for what's inside of it, can't handle high resolution video production and graphics work. The fans peg and heat blasts out the top but the GPUs overheat at 130+ degrees and introduce

I personally think the iMac has been an amazing all-in-one package. It's simplicity gives it an appeal that has made it a near-perfect tool for casual users who want to avoid the quirkiness of Windows. The iMac also scales up to heavy-
