Yes thanks for calling it out. I've been troubled with a lot of these startups calling themselves open-source, which might be correct but misses the ethos of open source by a mile. For example editors like Zed are actively getting bett

LLMs will never be good at specific knowledge unless specifically trained for with narrow "if else" statements. Its good for broad general overview such as most popular categories of books in the world.

"Subscribe to keep reading", when written by a rando on the internet, doesn't work.

God this is such a horribly written page. A great example of what not to do for product companies. I'll share this in my newsletter.

This is the world that I want to live in. Where I can gallop on a robotic horse and drink juice which heals my tumour but come in different colors.

Can't wait for the sniffling Marc Andreessen to claim this is blue skies for small tech.

Yup this tracks with what I have seen as well. Most devs who use this daily are usually junior devs or javascript devs who both write sloppy questionable code.

because you are overindexing on the act of writing instead of how it feels to read. now whether you should pay the same amount for it or not is a different question.

I completely agree with this assessment. I also keep my editor separated from the AI stuff. The way I talk about it is that using AI completions will create distance from the code. And just like a sports car driver sits close to the car and

why? ai writing is one of the few places where ai might actually be good. topic choice, inwriting, editing are also huge things.

Why is AI writing shunned? The book publishing industry needs to be badly disrupted.

Facebook is literally a scummy website which people use because others use it. This level of sheep like behaviour in humans is fascinating.

James Clark was the founder and the actual visionary. A lot of history has been rewritten about Marc Andreessen. Even most of the coding of the original Mosiac was done by Eric Bina.

I know that story intimately. He and Eric Bina wrote Mosiac for three months. Let's just say the Dotcom boom is how he and many others made their money.

I gave this criticism to Peter Thiel a long time back that he complains about. We were promised flying cars but all we got is 140 characters and yet the startup that he has is basically a chartjs version of a database with an aggressive sal

Mithril is fantastic. A much better library for frontend development compared to react vue et al. Simpler and far more performant code.

Yep, this is the way. The way I use LLMs is also to just do the front-end code. Front-end is anyways completely messed up because of JavaScript developers. So whatever the LLM shits out is fine and it looks good. For actual programming and
