Why is AI writing shunned? The book publishing industry needs to be badly disrupted.
- trvrprkr 2y ago> badly disrupted Embracing AI writing would absolutely be a disruption of the bad kind.
- ilrwbwrkhv 2y agowhy? ai writing is one of the few places where ai might actually be good. topic choice, inwriting, editing are also huge things.
- sarlalian 2y agoI’m just going to borrow an excellent quote that applies here. “If you couldn’t be bothered to write it, why should I bother to read it?”
- ilrwbwrkhv 2y agobecause you are overindexing on the act of writing instead of how it feels to read. now whether you should pay the same amount for it or not is a different question.
- __loam 2y agoBecause it's built off the labor of actual writers, which it displaced. The people who actually read books also hate this shit.
- theGeatZhopa 2y agoone thing is disruption of the publishing industry, the other is taking monetazation possibiities off authors (despite the piggy-back bloodsuckers) so, how the AI writing will help the authors? Or, did you mean "authorship needs to be disrupted"?
- ilrwbwrkhv 2y agoauthors are already using ai. it needs to be more transparently sold
- mystified5016 2y agoNobody wants to buy AI books. People who buy books would see an AI book as an outright scam.
- kazinator 2y agoCorollary: people who don't mind reading AI slop are in a demographic that wouldn't pay for a book.
- dpig_ 2y agoPublishing an AI-written novel is about as thoughtful as a doctor sending you an LMGTFY link with your symptoms.

- dontlaugh 2y agoYou want even more bad writing? Why?!
