Really interesting that Starlink continues to improve the service when they have an absolute monopoly on fast, portable satellite internet.

I agree. It still needs a lot of work and is a far cry from ActiveRecord. I've been working on a wrapper around it to make it more usable, hoping to get as much of the work merged upstream into SQLModel: https://github.com&#

Actually, this post triggered me to try one more thing to fix this: launch tmux via a LaunchDaemon! It seems to be working. https://github.com/iloveitaly/dotfiles/commit/b205c51cfb3ad9...

I very much agree here. I've had the best luck when there is as little as possible config in CI as possible: - mise for lang config - direnv for environment loading - op for secret injection - justfile for lint, build, etc Here's

Caddy is really great. In prod, but most surprisingly for all environments. - There's a great tool, localias, which uses Caddy for a local dev server https://github.com/peterldowns/localias - I use it locally for

This is a stellar point. Appreciate the response. I don't understand the Muslim, Hindu, and Buddist worldview/culture. I'd love to. What causes them to have large families? Why is it baked into the culture? Additionally, I&#x

This is a big problem, but not allowing a new invention or regulating it won't fix the issue. Decreasing freedom doesn't fix anything. I have four kids. Without a Christian worldview it's tough to justify having kids. Kids ar

We open-sourced our text-to-sql product last year too (way more simple than this): https://github.com/ryanstout/question_to_sql These sorts of businesses are really hard to build: incumbents have such an advantage. Mak

My meta take on this is there is no real critique. The article is just articulating that we don't know too much so we shouldn't focus on it, which seems like an incredibly dumb conclusion. Instead, shouldn't we research &

Awesome comment. I'd love to hear your take on: 1. Best place to learn more about Fecal Microbiota Transplantation 2. How do you increase SCFA-producing microbes? 3. Your take on the "everyone has SIBO and should eat hyper-ferment

I wonder how long it will be until Apple is running their own fabs, or at least diversifies away from heavily relying on TSMC. Has anyone seen news to this effect?

Surprised Resque isn't thrown in the mix here. It's performed very well over the years, even as the workloads and scale of the application has grown (from 100s transactions a day, to 10k/minute). The main advantage over sidek

I have a friend who works for the big four in M&A. He said there's a rush of deals with explicit EOY deadlines because of the tax environment uncertainty. I can't imagine this doesn't play a major role in all of the IPOs

Yes. This is very common practice for enterprise software: price on value, not on cost, which means adjusting the price based on the user and their particular needs and pains.
