Had to look that up - "The purpose of a system is what it does (POSIWID)".

This is so vague. What do you want done around your house? Why do you not want the ability to stop it? How unstoppable does it need to be?

I'm with you. As far as I can tell, the changes were less startups, more money per startup. Kinda a revamp?

That would be quite a stretch of the CCPA. The businesses that are doing the collecting have to have to comply. In this case, Apple isn't collecting that info.

Same thing happened to me, but it was photos. I just kept the photos, threw away the order form. If they give random things to kids then the parent is not on the hook to make sure those things are returned.

Nobody knows, I'd guess many months. If WFH is effective for the company, then it can last longer, or forever for some people. If the health care system collapses, then it lasts longer. If the health care system figures out a way to de

It's so crazy seeing him pop up like this. I used to work with Tomas on viral facebook apps like Astrology and Birthday Cards. Obviously working on viral apps is not the same as epidemiology and growth hacking. He was quite a character

I was at that meetup, and I do remember the Clojure crowd not being all that impressed. But it definitely came across that Arthur Whitney was a type of programming wizard. He had some offhand remark that he was running his laptop off of an

With the water, there is transpiration, which is the water that flows through the plant, evaporation, which is water that goes from the ground to the air directly, and then when the water goes into the water table. With drip irrigation, you

Almonds come from a tree, the tree requires the water to grow the almonds. The tree draws water from the ground, then there is transpiration where the water moves through the tree and out, like through the leaves. None remains, all the wate

I was curious about this, so I tracked down the actual quote in the Talmud. The "land" in question basically means farming. I don't think we'd find that relevant today. And the talmud actually advises 0% to land / f

Well, I could live with either taking the surplus from that specific program and investing it in the best possible way to cover for well-known coming shortfalls, or saying that it is a generic tax like any other tax. Then at least people wo

It's "looting" in that from the outside looking in, when social security has a surplus, the federal government takes that money and spends it on non-related things. Internally, one part of the government is writing an IOU to

I'm OK to go to x.com. Some surprisingly large amount of people will type the domain name into google, and go there. Sometimes, I don't remember the exact domain name, like I want to go to pocket, but it is getpocket.com. Anyway,

It's an anti-user practice. As a user, if I google for "x", I'm looking for "x", and it is annoying that someone gets to pay to "educate" me about some alternative that I never said I wanted.
