Same for me. I live in Berlin (biggest city in Germany) & have 2 kids of my own and haven't seen anything remotely as paranoid here as what you read about US cities.

This is somewhat out of date as modern day system in Germany is a lot less exclusionary and less prone to railroading pupils to vocational education than it was 20-30 years ago. This also depends on state, in Berlin for example basically an

This also differs based on state within Germany. In Berlin for example the Grundschule is 6 years and then you go to either Gymnasium or Sekundarschule[1] for another 6, which offers either university-bound education or vocational education

I think another aspect of it is that professors at research universities don't view teaching as their main vocation but as something they have to do (their "real" job is research/writing papers). I think lecturers that f

For the most part conventional armies don’t really fight one another that often anymore - it’s more common to have asymmetric warfare like western/russian involvement in the Middle East. These “tanks” will probably not target other “ta

Yeah but you’ve had to live out in the boonies for 5-10 years in the meanwhile. It can be fine in some situations but not in others. My kids are going to school now & I want them to get into good schools now, not in 10 years.

It’s not just about how much money you can make though - buying rubles helps Russia continue policies (hopefully) considered ethically wrong, such as waging war in Ukraine.

I think you think that because buying (rather than renting) is not traditionally that common in German/Austrian cities. In other countries it's perfectly expected that you take a mortgage for 30+ years if you buy a house, it'

I don't disagree that the housing market in german cities is overheated, but isn't it pretty standard to take 30+ year mortgages? Keep in mind that 20+ years into paying this back your monthly payment will not increase to 2042 lev

I think it depends where in Europe? In Germany and Austria they're mostly made of masonry. Here for example is a 1000+ years old church in Vienna: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Rupert%27s_Church,_Vienna

Maybe a more relatable example: ticket scalping. These are people who rush to buy tickets to popular concerts or sports events and then resell them at the venue priced much higher than sale value (and a lot higher than the venue/artist

It wouldn’t be difficult if you set out to do so but as a broke student you devise strategies to not spend that much money…For example would often also meet at someone’s house and drink beers bought at the supermarket. It all depends on i

The problem is the android game ecosystem- a lot of the “higher end” mobile games are for iOS (I moved from android to iOS and back several times and it was always easier to find games on iPhone).

Israel is a lot more expensive (alcohol very highly taxed) but we knew the cheap student pub in a basement where you could get good deals on the cheapest beer pitchers to share around the table. Even if the beer was $8 per unit I wouldn

I don’t know where you live where a bar tab would be $50-100. I went to two universities (one in Israel and the other in Austria, neither particularly cheap countries) and cheap student bars had beers for €3-5. Might be a bit more today but

A better solution is to "just" be more thoughtful & honest about who (if any) needs to be fired (it sucks to fire people so a lot of managers put it off but really shouldn't, sometimes). I don't think there's a

The counter argument is that it's simply better nutrition increasing height and you can have better nutrition even without a lot of animal product (especially in 2022). It's not intrinsic to meat and animal fat.

You were probably seeing the amiga too late in its life - it was only really impressive in the 80s, but it was really impressive in the 80s (especially when it was competing with 286, EGA & PC-speaker).
