DVI has additional pins for carrying an analog signal, but they don't have to be used to transmit the digital one. The simple DVI-VGA adapters are merely shape changers, wiring the relevant pins from the DVI side to the VGA side.

One big hole in the logic: Street view cars all work during the daytime. There is no nighttime street imagery on streetview, and anecdotally, I've never seen a streetview car at night. Having self-driving cars during daylight hours only is

Don't give up, don't be sorry—just fix it! Bonus: you learned something about writing copy for startups today. Every failure is an opportunity for a successful outcome.

No, it isn't. "Nice girls"? Models are attractive people. The terms works for both sexes. Ask yourself why there has to be any reference at all to the fact that the pictures are of females . Your placeholder image leaves little doubt about

I don't doubt it was done with the best of intentions, but this is exactly the sort of thing which makes women feel unwanted in our industry—thoughtless reduction of girls to sex objects. Put your money (well, time) where your mouth is—go c

It's a shame such a great presentation is ruined by the usage of "Hot Chicks". It wouldn't have cost them anything to just say "models" instead of "models and hot chicks?" And just like that, my interest in the app is gone.

You're missing a key aspect here: Social Security. While the US does indeed have tax treaties with many countries, it doesn't have treaties with everyone regarding social security. I live in Israel, which does have an income tax treaty with

Hybrid dev/designer here. My experience: Being a hybrid is difficult because of these kinds of situations. Even if you get to be very good at one or the other (or both), you're still perceived as inferior by virtue of your supposed "lack of

This is a terrible representation of the issue. In the end, designing for the web is designing for a lack of control. I can't control your screen geometry, display technology, browser compliance, fonts, and more. There is no fixed canvas li

Best line I ever heard about NDA's (not mine): "If you are capable of broaching your NDA in a couple of sentences, you had nothing NDA'able there in the first place." I heard it at an entrepreneurship panel in 2004, so I don't remember the

Stories like this give me hope as a bootstrapped founder. One year into building a thing (skillsapp.com), we have users but no hockey-stick on our charts. It takes time to refine and refine some more. Pivots aren't always about solving the

Yeah, we're working on a new homepage to make that bit clear. Right now, you sign up, creat one or more positions. Each has a unique landing URL, and anyplace you'd normally publicize "send us your resumes," put that link—job boards, advert
