Oh what, it's not open source? The little interest I had in this just evaporated. I would definitely be interested in something like Emacs built on modern technologies, but Emacs is already there and quite good. I feel like something l

Potentially fewer context switches and interruptions? I know for me the browser is a potential landmine of distraction, it might be handy to be able to limit that.

Not just that really, I think his point is more so that AOSP will not build and run for 99% of phones out there (i.e. non-Nexus phones). There's a lot of reverse engineering that goes on from people like CyanogenMod to make it work on

Seriously, the number of wrong turns you had to take to get there... wtf? I kind of feel like from a UI perspective, you can try to make your site as usable as possible, but someone will always run into the dumbest edge case or contact you

The thing that's sad is that if Intel hadn't taken so many unethical approaches to keeping AMD down when it actually was competitive with Intel on performance, the market could look totally different today. Back in the Athlon XP

It's also evident if you go through any big project's mailing list in the past few years and search for git/mercurial/svn/cvs/dvcs or the like. I followed Pidgin's devel mailing list for a while. For some

Yeah, not sure what that guy is on about. Both prices are lower than the Leaf's nominal price, and I've heard you could get ~$10k worth of tax credits or something with the Leaf. Unfortunately I don't remember the details, bu

Did you even read the post? Stock git is significantly faster than stock mercurial, it's only after they hack it up that they make it faster.

I've been posting all over this thread because I love my new T440s, so it looks kind of funny, but for me as a new Thinkpad user the clickpad as trackpoint buttons was really easy to get used to. I think it's actually worse as a t

I have a Thinkpad T440s with the new trackpoint/lack of buttons, and while I am admittedly a new Thinkpad user, I find the Trackpoint excellent and completely natural to use. It was a little awkward for a day but I got used to it reall

I mean, if someone ported Linux to a toaster, you wouldn't say they posted the Android core to a toaster. Userspace is what people care about when they mention any OS by name (IMO). The title would have been equally correct if it said

It actually does support at least one of the bands that Verizon uses for LTE. There's a small chance that, like the Nexus 7 LTE, if you insert an already activated SIM card it might just work for LTE.

That's a problem with the HDMI standard, not with the monitor specifically. The cheaper random manufacturer monitors do things like run the electronics out of spec to get away with things like higher resolution support or 120hz on IPS.
