I think the idea of states having national influence in these matters comes from the fact that if a producer of some sort (textbooks, cars, etc) wants to sell something across the US, they need to follow the strictest standards that populou

> This would be awesome. Even when both the laptop and the external screen are 1080p, different scaling could be helpful if you want to use a dual monitor setup effectively. Actually, this is especially true when both are 1080p, because

Hmm, it might be worth noting that two of the cofounders of Drive.ai are Andrew Ng's PhD student and his wife. Not sure what that means in terms of how much, if any, collaboration there is between Drive.ai and Baidu.

I can see why Volvo criticized Tesla for rolling out a system that's not fully autonomous. If drivers are willfully distracted because they think the car will handle any situation, that's a very dangerous place to be in. Though it

Funny to see Intel re-take control of OpenCV after handing it off(?) to Willow Garage and then Itseez. Guess it turned out to be more important than they initially thought? (?) Don't know the details of the transitions and why they occ

Isn't using hustle as a term for hard work pretty common in sports teams? Like, a coach might tell his team "Good hustle" for working hard. I think you're kind of right though in that in the tech industry it feels like i

Better, it seems like this is literally running the same Linux binaries as would run on Ubuntu on Windows. Git bash uses msys so those binaries are recompiled for Windows. And he casually mentioned apt, which is pretty crazy if they can act

I don't think it's a JIT vs native issue, it's more likely from native UI components vs DOM. I'm sure JS as a language is plenty fast enough, but the DOM adds overhead that kills that. But this is just speculation on my

Upstart is pretty similarly easy to use in my limited experience with it. Definitely a nice idea to have stdout just automatically go to a log file.

Browser casting has always been a "beta" feature from day one. The main draw was always supposed to be the specialized apps.

I would really love it if one of these web-based terminals managed to stick around. Just being able to view images in a terminal would be amazing. The trouble with building on web technologies seems to be that the overhead is just too high

Completely right. Applying a neural network is much faster than training one. The main trick here is fitting the trained model into cache (or smaller) so that the matrix multiplies are fast.

I have the 2014 T440s and it's the best laptop I've ever used, though I guess that's not a particularly large sample size. I definitely think the 2015 T450s should be much better because they brought back the buttons but the

Err, to be fair the context was that OS X usually has a very outdated version of Emacs. (Don't have a Mac so dunno for sure if that's still the case or if the article is out of date.)
