Koush's Mirror app[1] works alright with his Allcast Receiver Chrome app. The interesting thing is that using it actually revealed a (broken) second screen mode in one of the apps I use, didn't know Android had APIs for that. Perh

Seriously, the few times a month I need to crunch numbers I reach for my phone, then get frustrated and just use Google because my TI83's batteries have been dead for years. I don't know what it is but I haven't seen a touch

A lot of kids probably get started programming with TI-BASIC on their TI83s/84s or whatever they have these days.

Oh man, that's cool. I must have just missed out on this when taking CS152, we played with simulated SPARC when I took the course IIRC.

Perhaps I don't pay attention to these things enough (or haven't seriously worked in Java in a while) but to me it was interesting simply to find out that Eclipse has its own Java compiler instead of using javac.

Hmm, yeah, I always felt that was weird as a default since most beginners probably don't know vi/vim. Now I have to wonder why the default doesn't just take input on stdin for the commit message. Well, I guess you lose the ab

I would love to have an e-ink whiteboard type thing that I could just leave up all the time without worrying about power consumption. I'd say maybe the top third would be for calendar events/digital todo lists that sync automatica

Ugh, this is so true. As a (grad) student who bikes to campus, I hate dealing with drivers who have been conditioned by the inconsiderate other cyclists. I personally always yield to cars in right turn lanes and that sort of thing, but some

Right, I think the basic hardware has not changed in 20+ years. It's a pretty weird situation. Although I kind of feel like they should get with the times and produce better hardware given the ridiculous prices they still charge, it le

Ugh, this is terrible, the index is git's best feature. I kind of see where you're coming from with the idea of squashing together commits before pushing but it seems like a lot of awkwardness and overhead for the really basic use

I love git, but even git checkout is asinine. It's fine for checking out a tag/branch/rev/treeish, but why on earth does it also revert files to their checked in state if given a path argument? I don't think git sho

The one thing I dislike a bit is that the phone seems to heat up a bit more than via normal charging, so if I have to take a call after it's been sitting on the charger it's a bit uncomfortable. Otherwise, it's pretty slick.
