I agree with your observations. I was using "happy" as a placeholder for enthusiastic, passionate, driven, etc, i.e. fulfilled in what they do, whatever that might be. Startups don't have exclusivity here. I am sure people can be all of tho

In this context I am primarily looking for role models who are happy/passionate in what they do, i.e. they are fulfilled through their craft whether that's coding, marketing, or embroidery.

I think there is plenty of both types out there on the interwebs. It's just a matter of filtering the right ones.

I read the article and I didn't see a word about career path. The answer to the question is still a "no", in my view. Once I hire a person, I expect them to approach me with their career aspirations and ideas. It is primarily their responsi

Although I greatly admire the author's personal accomplishments, I feel like some arguments in this write up are based on false premises. Here is an example: "winners will do what losers won't" What about the guy who gets the second place?

I am not sure which particular flavor of "embedded" the author is referring to, but the argument, in my view, is completely off the mark, and here is why: The main challenge of embedded is that you are in charge of controlling and managing

Sounds a bit categorical with respect to inventory management. I know of one company, moysklad ('my warehouse' - in Russian), which has done quite well for itself in Russian-speaking countries. They are a couple years old and they've alread

Although I generally agree with your comment, I disagree that the process only detects large corporate customers. In fact, I've seen plenty of small customers who for whatever reason act like a large corporate customer, but instead of bring

I've had something similar happen to me at a Microsoft interview. The interviewer asked me a question I explicitly knew the answer to, and it too wasn't "my" answer to the problem but the one I've heard in another interview. So I just told

I've just launched LinkPeelr on App Engine: http://linkpeelr.appspot.com . It was seamless, quick and easy, and the app is getting a bit of traction already. I am estimating that with free quota I can support about 10,000 active users. Lin

I've been frustrated by short URLs in my Twitter feed too. So frustrated, in fact, that I wrote an app to "peel" them. It's a Chrome extension that shows you where the link is going before you click. Google App Engine fetches page headers o

I've done the recycled comment thing once, and it worked pretty well. However, I did introduce it as such and restructured it into a standalone piece of writing for the benefit of the reader. I haven't been able to figure out the difference

I am not trying to downplay Ryan's accomplishments as a marketing hacker, but it's important to keep in mind that they (as the article states in the very beginning) already have 1,500 users and 10,000 people signed up on the mailing list. T

I, too, was an avid reader of the Exile while it lasted. I caught the tail end of it when I and my wife came to Russia in 2006. I thought it was still ruthless and unapologetic at the time. Thankfully there is always plenty of stuff to be r
