And there is also a setting for having text labels in buttons instead of icons.

And that's how it all started for me (as in, that's where I typed my first lines of code, good old orange book from Sinclair with code examples like creating hangman).

Web designers? That would be a surprise to me since it's not really the easiest thing in the world. As a web developer, if I ever have to work with PHP again I'm sure I'm going with CodeIgniter, it's a pleasure to work with.

Is it just me or using more than two fingers at the same time on that screen feels wrong? The way to go is webOS-like gestures. I don't think I used my TouchPad's home button ten times in one year.

This would be an interesting discussion. I prefer to use the same coding style for the whole project without caring how the original authors of each language did it. I do however understand that the language API follows the original convent

Why "We use hyphen delimited, lowercase selectors: .thisIsBad{}, .this_is_also_bad{} but .this-is-correct{}"? I understand if the point is about the styles itself having hyphens, like padding-bottom, but it breaks the complete expression se

Kinda off-topic, from the article: "The 2012 Four Seasons Luxury Trends Report from Four Seasons reveals that 71% of its customers bring a smartphone with them on their travels and 61% bring a tablet device." That's a lot. And even so, my o

Is it just me that press the home button three times everytime I want the camera icon to appear? The first press is because that's how I do it all the time and then I remind myself that it actually takes two presses to make the icon appear.

Same in Portugal but you don't even need to talk about the young people. Average wage is 1000 eur, 700/900 eur would be a good salary for most young people in Portugal. It's also funny how people talk about the lazy people from the South. I

Yes, worst case scenario and post-tax because that's how you do it in Portugal. But I should have made it clearer since I talked about gross wage on the same comment. I'll insist on the idea that if you look carefully you can find offers at

Sadly your manager did not lie, most people I have met in Portugal (which is also my home country) do get 1k eur/m gross. And they are quite happy with it because that's what most people get from similar jobs. They also don't seem to think

I try to convert everyone I know to some of the topics found here, it's indeed very useful mainly in times like these where a job is something not available for everyone. I really like seeing all these different people reading HN.

You know, you could say the same about lots of other countries and they don't do it, they invest in highways and other kinds of waste. Think of my home country, Portugal: we have mountains and rivers everywhere, we have the ocean, we have E
